THE LEARNING COLLABORATIVE
ABOUT US
The Learning Collaborative is a small group of warm, young, enthusiastic tutors, trained by NYC’s top tutoring companies, who have now come together to create a unique approach to one-on-one learning.
We believe that collaboration and communication are key to effective tutoring. We also recognize that each mind learns differently, and understand that finding the right Coach is integral to a student’s academic success.
Our “collaborative” model is two-fold:
-TLC Coaches work together as a team to ensure that each student is paired with the Coach best suited to his or her learning style and needs.
-TLC Coaches work with parents, students, and schools to optimize each student’s experience by developing a Customized Learning Plan.
Our own lives were shaped by the rare, great teachers who brought learning to life. At TLC, our goal is to provide our students with passionate and supportive Coaches who will inspire them to expand their notions of what they are capable of achieving.

POLICIES
CANCELLATIONS/LATENESS
Cancellations for any reason (including illness) must be made before 3pm the day prior. Cancellations received after 3pm the day before a session will be billed. This policy allows Learning Coaches to be certain of their schedules and enables them to fill their cancelled hours with sessions with other students. All cancellations must be made by phone call, voicemail, or email. Learning Collaborative sessions begin at the prearranged time; if a student arrives late, s/he forfeits that time.
CONSULTATIONS
If you would like to speak on the phone with your Learning Coach, please schedule a call or meeting in advance. Consultations lasting 15 minutes or longer will be billed at our hourly rate.
PAYMENT
Pre-Payment Plan
Once a family selects a package of hours and arranges a schedule with their Learning Coach, pre-payment is required. This enables us to ensure you and your children both the Coach and the schedule of your choice.
Individual Sessions
We understand that some families would simply like to have access to a Learning Collaborative Coach on an as-needed basis. Parents may call to book sessions to help prepare for a specific assignment, i.e. a math exam, Spanish essay, or difficult physics homework packet. Payment for these appointments is due at the time that services are rendered. While we always do our best to accommodate families’ schedules, without a pre-payment plan we cannot guarantee availability of a specific Learning Coach or a specific time slot.
